Whatever works for your family and parenting style is what you do. However, I often encourage parents to assign some chores to their children as it is a great way to increase independence, self-esteem, confidence, and responsibility. Regardless of your stance on chores, there is no reason children cannot help out around the house, especially if it relates to a mess they made.

The Return to Normalcy

I had another blog post ready for this week. You will see that one soon enough. However, I felt it necessary to create another one, especially with all the changes that have been happening.

Finally! There seems to be some sense of normalcy returning. Indoor and outdoor restrictions have changed, as have mask requirements. To be clear, this isn’t a political post. Walk-and-talk therapy can be known by different names. Regardless of the name, this form of therapy brings the provider and the patient outside the therapy room. Walk-and-talk therapy is not a new concept and has its roots in mindfulness-based therapy, as well as body-oriented therapy. Numerous research studies show the benefits of the outdoors, as well as bringing the outdoors inside (e.g. having plants in the home). Some benefits to being outdoors include decreased anxiety, increased concentration and happiness, improved creativity, and better physical health.
