do you accept insurance?

At this time, I only accept insurance through TalkSpace and Headway. This allows me to balance the demands of insurance companies and the investment in my time to meaningful sessions with you, and in enhancing my services through ongoing research and training opportunities. I encourage you to review both options for the most accurate and up-to-date insurance information. At this time, I am in-network with the following insurance companies:

  • Cigna

  • United Healthcare

  • Oscar Health

  • Quest Behavioral Health

  • Carelon Behavioral Health

  • Aetna

  • Point32 Healthcare

  • Oxford

  • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NY (formerly Empire)

  • Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts

For individuals not interested in using their insurance, I offer private pay options as well, providing you with superbills upon request, maintaining an extra layer of privacy and confidentiality. This choice also empowers you to avoid sharing your intimate details with insurance companies, fostering a more personal and secure therapeutic environment. In the spirit of transparency, it's important to note that a diagnosis is required on a superbill, and the insurance company may seek additional access to your treatment records. At no time will I engage in direct communication with an insurance company.

My decision to offer both in and out-of-network options is rooted in my belief that effective care demands time and freedom. Some insurance constraints may limit session length and frequency, necessitate higher caseloads, and pose reimbursement challenges.

Opting for an out-of-network clinician may involve paying for some or all of the treatment, but it's a conscious choice that allows me to prioritize your well-being, providing you with the undivided attention and quality care you deserve./ Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

IS the technology you use HIPAA COMPLIANT?

Absolutely! Your privacy and confidentiality are paramount. Rest assured that all software employed is not only HIPAA-compliant but also fortified with Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), underscoring my commitment to the utmost security.

While my technology adheres to the highest standards, it's important to acknowledge the inherent risks. I encourage you to take thoughtful precautions, such as utilizing secure, password-protected internet connections and safeguarding your information, apps, and electronic devices.

In the spirit of transparency, I do maintain an online, professional presence on social media and the internet. It's essential to highlight that, at no point, will I follow, friend, or engage in communication with current or former patients. For those choosing to follow, comment, or engage on social media, I kindly advise awareness of the potential risks to confidentiality, empowering you to make informed decisions aligned with your well-being.

IS THERE A CANCELLATION POLICY?

Yes. Once we embark on your therapeutic journey, the consistency and regularity of sessions become integral to nurturing your well-being. Your designated time is a commitment, impacting not just you but others involved in the process:

(1) You: Because your appointment time is uniquely set aside for your care.
(2) Someone Else: Who eagerly awaited their chance to connect with me.
(3) Me: Who dedicates time to prepare for your session, ensuring it's tailored to your needs.

To honor the collective commitment, I uphold a 24-hour cancellation policy. Should you need to cancel after this timeframe or miss a scheduled appointment, the will be a cancellation fee charged to the credit card on file. However, I understand life's complexities, and if you need to reschedule, I’ll make every effort to find an alternative slot. Please note that availability for the same week is not guaranteed.

In the spirit of mutual respect, after two no-shows or late cancellations, individuals forfeit their standing appointment spot for 30 days. While I cannot guarantee the same slot after the 30-day period, my aim is always to support your ongoing care. After three occurrences, I refer individuals to another suitable provider outside the practice.

IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?

At the heart of my practice, your confidentiality and privacy are paramount. Mental health providers, both legally and ethically, are unwavering in their commitment to safeguarding this vital aspect of your well-being.

For individuals aged 18+, the power lies with you to grant permission for third-party communication—be it with schools, physicians, or psychiatrists. Unique to New Jersey, minors aged 14+ actively contribute to their treatment decisions, extending consent and permission for discussions with third parties. Minors aged 16+ in New Jersey hold the autonomy to engage in treatment without caregiver consent.

Your agency is central, and the right to revoke this permission is yours, free of any consequences. For minors (under 18), information is accessible to caregivers upon request when it aligns with the minor's well-being and treatment.

As guardians of confidentiality, mental health providers adhere to the legal mandate of preserving the privacy of those under their care. Without written consent from you and/or a caregiver, information remains confidential. However, it's crucial to acknowledge exceptions to this rule:

Harm to Self: If there are concerns about self-harm.
Harm to Others: If there are credible threats of harm to an identified person.
Abuse Suspicions: If there are suspicions of child abuse, elder abuse, or dependent adult abuse.

In such instances, the ethical obligation is to engage with the appropriate authorities. Rest assured, these exceptions are guided by the sole intention of ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved. Your trust is our cornerstone, and I navigate these considerations with the utmost sensitivity, respect, and dedication to your holistic care.

For individuals opting to use insurance benefits, your insurance company may require information about your treatment in order to reimburse you or cover your sessions.

WHAT IS THERAPY LIKE AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

My commitment is to create a safe and nurturing space, fostering a therapeutic relationship essential for your treatment.

On your journey of healing, judgment has no place, and you will never encounter yelling or mockery. What is shared within the walls of our sessions remains there, with the exceptions outlined above for your safety and well-being.

Beyond the session room, the therapeutic journey may extend to activities designed to enhance your treatment goals. Your agency is revered, and you hold the right to question and refuse any treatment interventions. Seeking a second opinion is not just a right but an empowered choice, free from any apprehensions.

The duration of your therapeutic path is as unique as you are. Guided by your treatment goals, progress, and frequency, I ensure regular check-ins on your treatment plan at least every 90 days. Your progress is celebrated, and any obstacles or challenges are openly discussed, creating a collaborative space where your well-being is the focal point.

DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

I am not trained nor do I provide medication prescriptions. If you're contemplating medication as part of your journey, I’m here to support you by offering thoughtful referrals, and guiding you to explore your options.

For those already on medication, your well-being is my priority. With your permission, I will collaborate with your prescriber, ensuring the integration of psychotherapy and medication when deemed beneficial. I understand that, in certain instances, the synergy between medication and psychotherapy can pave the way for an effective and holistic treatment course. Your choices are respected, and my commitment is to facilitate a path that aligns seamlessly with your unique needs and well-being.
